GoodSearch
GoodSearch.com is a new search engine that donates half its revenue, about a penny per
search, to the charities its users designate. You use it just as you would any search engine,
and it's powered by Yahoo!, so you get great results.
Just go to www.goodsearch.com and be sure to enter Congregation Shalom Milwaukee,
as the charity you want to support. Just 500 of us searching four times a day will raise about
$7300 in a year without anyone spending a dime! And, be sure to spread the word!
Pick 'N Save
Through the “We Care” Program, congregants and friends of Shalom, can sign up at their local Pick 'N Save to have Shalom receive a contribution everytime you shop. Just register with Shalom's number 127200 and each time you swipe your card, Shalom receives a percentage of your purchase. This is an exciting and easy way to support Congregation Shalom.
Office Max
Congregation Shalom is excited to be embarking on a new money saving and fund raising opportunity with Office Max. Shortly you will have the opportunity to sign up for an Office Max discount card. Each time you make a purchase at Office Max with this card, you will receive the same percent discount as Congregation Shalom. In addition, a percentage of the total cost of your purchase will be rebated to the synagogue as a fund raiser. It’s a win-win for you and Congregation Shalom.
Entertainment Books
Congregation Shalom is proud to make available on an annual basis entertainment books. These coupon books may be purchased in the synagogue office beginning each August 1st and are good from fall through the next spring. They contain coupons for entertainment, food, and hundreds of other money saving ideas. Please consider purchasing your entertain book at Congregation Shalom.
Illustrated Torah
This winter, the Education Committee purchased The Illustrated Torah Scroll by the Israeli artist Michal Meron. The scroll contains beautiful and colorful illustrations of each Torah portion (and Haftarah portion) printed on canvas and sewn together like the pieces of parchment of the actual Torah scroll. This scroll is intended to provide an amazing teaching tool for Torah students of all ages and to create a fundraising tool for the Education Fund.

The Illustrated Torah Scroll is exhibited in the display cabinet in the school foyer. Each week, the scroll is rolled to the portion of the week. The scroll has and will be used for classroom lessons, for adult education classes, for Torah study, and as part of religious school ceremonies.
We will also be offering dedication opportunities. Next to the scroll will be “The Book of the Illustrated Torah” which will hold pages listing each Torah portion. From a multitude of dedication opportunities, one may dedicate the Torah portion to someone in honor of a special occasion or to mark an event in their lives. At the first level, similar to the Fund Cards, the one honored will receive a card recognizing the dedication by the donor and will have his or her name recorded in the Book of the Illustrated Torah. Each year, as we return to that Torah portion, their name, inscribed on the page, will serve as a marker of the important moment in their lives.
Other levels of dedication include the addition of receiving the Illustrated Torah Book, receiving a small print of the particular Torah portion, or receiving a large print of the particular Torah portion by the artist. More information will be coming soon about these dedication opportunities.
