Fund Cards
It's a double mitzvah to be able to support Congregation Shalom and honor your loved ones with a donation in honor/memory of someone special. We gratefully acknowledge all of your generous contributions that allow Shalom to continue to provide outstanding services and help to guarantee our future.
Donation cards are available in the Administrative offices at Shalom, and are now available online. At Shalom we have great volunteers who ensure that your contribution is received, acknowledged and a card is sent to your honoree or their family.
Below is a complete list of all of the funds that Shalom currently has, and a description of each fund. With 28 different funds and programs to contribute to, we hope that you can find an appropriate fund to honor someone in a way that is meaningful to your family and the honoree. We encourage you to contribute to any of them throughout the year, noting occasions of joy and sorrow. We always acknowledge your contributions in writing in the Shofar, our monthly bulletin. Minimum contribution is $5.00.
May those who are remembering their loved ones find strength in the knowledge they are providing for the future of our beloved Shalom.

Legacy Society
Since 1951, members of Congregation Shalom have thoughtfully designated gifts to our spiritual home to secure the long-term fiscal health of our congregation. That tradition of generosity continues today and has led to the creation of the Shalom Legacy Society.
As Congregation Shalom plans for the future, we want to ensure that our children’s children will have the same love for, and commitment to, Reform Judaism as our ancestors did. We know that the generosity of those who assist us today will help to secure our tomorrow.
Planned Giving provides the opportunity to create a legacy that has lasting impact, without the loss of needed income during your lifetime. It offers you the satisfaction of knowing you have made a difference in the lives of others. Planned Giving also can improve your financial and tax situation – often right away.
There are many ways that your philanthropic giving can blend with your own financial needs and tax planning. While concerns about your own and your family’s financial security may make it difficult to make a gift right now, a Planned Gift to Congregation Shalom can fulfill your desire to make a meaningful gift, satisfy your financial concerns, and offer you significant tax advantages.
These advantages may include:
• Current income tax deduction
• Avoidance of long-term capital gains
• Increase in income and effective rate of return
• Future income and tax benefits for your heirs
• Reduction in estate gift and income taxes
If you would to learn more about Planned Giving and the Legacy Society, get our Legacy Society brochure. Contact Abby Habush Schroeder for more information.

Israel Bonds
A Double Mitzvah!
Congregation Shalom is pleased to announce that as part of our on-going Endowment Campaign effort, we are again encouraging members to donate Israel Bonds that they already own or new Israel Bonds that they will purchase as part of this year’s Israel Bond Appeal. In addition, you can make a cash gift to the synagogue and request that we purchase an Israel Bond with the proceeds in the name of the endowment.
How is this good for you?
You contribute to the Shalom Endowment Fund and the Israel Bond campaign at the same time using the same dollars.
How is this good for Congregation Shalom?
Your participation in our Endowment Campaign helps us to ensure that Congregation Shalom can continue to offer strong programming, innovative education and inspiring leaders in a warm and caring spiritual home.
How is this good for Israel?
Your donation is forwarded to Israel to be used to help fund projects in key economic sectors of the country.
If you wish to fulfill this “double mitzvah,” then place the blue sticker found inside the envelope on the outside to indicate your desire to participate in this win-win situation. It’s good for you, good for Israel and good for Shalom.
If you have any questions about this important effort please contact Abby Habush Schroeder, Director of Synagogue Relations.

Endowment
For the last 54 years Congregation Shalom has been committed to the perpetuation of the long term health of our spiritual home and the mission of Reform Judaism. As we are beginning the year 2006 we would like each of us to think about participating in that mission.
We are working to build our Shalom Endowment to assure our present and guarantee our future. One very important facet of our Endowment planning is to reach out to our members and their financial and estate planning counselors and ask each of us to consider including Shalom in your estate plans.
For more information, please contact Abby Habush Shroeder at (414) 352-9288. Please join other members who have joined our Gesher Chai society—a Living Bridge from generation to generation.
