Life-Long Learning
General Information
Joshua ben Perachyah said, “Get yourself a teacher, find someone to study with, and judge everyone favorably.”
– Pirke Avot 1:6
Our tradition teaches that Jewish study is both a sacred act and an obligation no matter what our age. And within study, we find companionship and the value of the balance of justice. At Congregation Shalom, we provide educational opportunities for learners of all ages. We are committed to the principle of life-long learning and to the idea that learning should be intellectually intriguing and spiritually fulfilling. We are committed to teaching Jewish texts and traditions as they were presented in history and as we view them today from a Reform perspective. Additionally, we believe that the study of Judaism and Jewish practice should be joyous and hands-on. We also believe that the diversity of backgrounds and practices of our members can only enhance our educational programs and discussions. We grow in knowledge, insight, and understanding when we come together to study and to share.
Whether you are interested in formal education for children found in our Religious School (K4-7th grade), Chai School (8th-12th grade), or Hebrew School; Family/Early Childhood Learning, or Adult Education, we are confident that you will find our programs accessible, fulfilling educationally, and nourishing spiritually.
We look forward to studying with you!
